Veterans have served our country with honor and distinction. It is only appropriate that their training and education can be credited towards a Florida private investigator license. Veterans can also receive additional benefits in the form of waived fees.
Veteran Training Credits for a Florida Private Investigator License
First, let’s define the requirements for obtaining credits.
Veterans have to be honorably discharged. Next, if you would like to receive credit for training and education, then it must be substantially similar to what is required for a Florida private investigator’s license. For example, veterans that have received military police or security training are likely to receive credit.
In order to receive this credit, the veterans have to submit supporting documentation. Supporting documentation can include official documents such as your DD214, joint services transcripts, training certificates, job evaluation reports, or commanding officer letters describing particular training or experience and number of hours dedicated to its performance.
The great thing about this benefit is that even if you do not meet all the training requirements, you still can receive some credit. Then, you would have to sign up for training on the subjects that remain. This can potentially save several hundred or thousands of dollars in education costs.
Veteran Waived Fees for a Florida Private Investigator License
According to Florida state code, the initial application fee for a veteran shall be waived if he/she applies for a Class “C,” Class “CC,” Class “DI,” Class “E,” Class “EE,” Class “K,” Class “M,” Class “MA,” Class “MB,” Class “MR,” or Class “RI” license within 24 months after being discharged from a branch of the United States Armed Forces. You must include a copy of your DD 214 with your application. For the Class “C” Florida private investigator’s license, this is a savings of $50!
